Confederate Buckle with the magic letters on original leather belt. This Confederate waist belt plate is my favorite of all the styles of buckles. The Confederate Rectangle is usually the one everybody wants in their collection. This example has wonderful eye appeal. The face was cleaned at some point in history but has aged since beautifully. The back of the plate is gorgeous with two and half hooks. You can see an air bubble caused the hook failure. Not uncommon on the sand cast plates. The belt is a classic civil war leather belt. This belt is no doubt a recycled federal belt. Leather wears out and we know the South used all the battlefield spoils they could gather. This belt shows excellent honest wear.
