Confederate Officer Forage Cap patterned after the US Army 1858 forage cap. This Confederate Officer Forage Cap has the classic blue-gray kersey cloth. Two strands of gold braid around the base, two strands on the side, and one around the crown. There are just a few wear, age, and/or insect openings on the exterior body. The visor is oil cloth and in wonderful condition. The chinstrap is secured by eagle officer buttons. The interior has a polished cotton liner. There is some expected wear but mostly complete. The sweatband is leather and also mostly intact. In my opinion, this Confederate Officer Forage Cap is in wonderful condition with only expected wear from honest service.
This Confederate Officer Forage Cap was on display at The Texas Civil War Museum until it's closing. This Confederate Forage cap is almost identical to the cap in Echoes of Glory identified to Captain Wallace, of Gordonsville, Va.
