Early Production New Model Navy Percussion Revolver in above average condition. Here is the collection description: ".36 caliber. 7.375" octagonal barrel. SN: 23392. Blued finish, color casehardened hammer, brass trigger guard, oil finished two-piece walnut grips. Single action percussion solid frame revolver with six-chambered un-fluted cylinder, frame notch rear sight and German silver cone front sight. Top of barrel marked in a single line with the Elliot's patent date, reading: PATENTED SEPTEMBER 14, 1858/ E. REMINGTON & SONS ILION, NEW YORK U.S.A. Matching serial numbers on the left side of the grip frame under the grip, under the barrel and inside both grip panels in weak pencil. This revolver falls in the early range of the "New Model Navy" serial numbers and has the first two lines of the markings found on those barrels but does not have a "NEW MODEL" barrel mark. The gun has the later production, post-Elliot (Old Model) loading lever but retains the German silver cone sight of the earlier guns. A nice example of a transitional, early production New Model Navy."
