The caliber is 44-40 with crisp single action. This Merwin Hulbert Pocket Army Revolver is mechanically sound with wonderful original hard rubber grips. The holster wear was strong and someone in history cleaned this Skull Crusher. You can see "1873" on the frame of the "CALIBRE WINCHESTER 1873." All other markings have worn away. Solid example of a scarce Indian War Revolver with the Skull Crusher close combat butt. No doubt this six-shooter saw the Wild of the American West and very likely Native American used.
