Confederate Richmond Musket brought home by Private L. Mattoz a Private of the 57th Illinois Vols. This Confederate Richmond Musket is as issued with a mixture of captured Harpers Ferry Parts and Southern manufactured parts. The stock is Confederate with the "mule shoe" still remaining in the lock cutout. This Confederate Richmond Musket has beautiful 1863 dated lock plate with strong maker mark. The belt keeper attached to the stock was no doubt going to be used as a plaque to engrave his War Trophy. I have not yet under magnification studied the brass for date or name. The action is strong and mechanically sound. This Rebel Long Arm is fresh to the market and ready for your War Room.
