Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Cave Find from Palo Duro Canyon. This Springfield Trapdoor Rifle was found in the 1950s in a cave. The rifle was wrapped up in a blanket. The condition of the stock fits the story and the West Texas Climate. This Springfield Rifle was obviously captured by a Native American and hidden from the Federals.
