Brigadier General Archibald Grace, Jr. killed in action Petersburg, Va. December 2, 1864. This Sword was Presented to Brigadier General Archibald Grace, Jr. by Alabama Governor A. B. Moore. This was an early 1861 Presentation for appointment to Major of the 11th Alabama Regiment.

The Model 1850 Foot Officers Sword was no doubt carried in Battle. May have very well been with him when he was killed in action. The blade is period sharp with field sharpened wide tooth file marks. The blade has faint etching that looks to have been purposely "lightned" .... my guess by Mr. Grace himself. I have posted an image of some of his history. Checkout all the images and enjoy. This is an awesome artifact with numerous battles under its belt.
