Robert E. Lee Cabinet Card


Robert E. Lee Cabinet Card marked M. Miley & Sons.  This Robert E. Lee Cabinet Card is also marked Carbon Studio Lexington, Va.  The image of General Robert E. Lee is clear with some age spots.  The card has some staining with handling marks.  The back of this Robert E. Lee Cabinet Card has handwriting on the back.  This is usual with hand written 241 at the top corner.  Michael Miley (1841–1918), is famous for his portraits of General Robert E. Lee.  He was a Rockbridge County native.  He contributed greatly to the field of Civil War Era photography.  He served under General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson in the Civil War. Miley moved to Staunton, Va. where he studied photography under J. H. Burdett.  There he learned to print positive images using the albumen wet-plate process.  I have Rebel Relics Priced this one under market.  Every collection needs a General Lee image.
